Narooma based business, Hudson Building Services scored a hattrick at this year’s Master Builders Association Regional Building Excellence Awards, taking out a trio of accolades at the event in Ulladulla last month.
The company’s project in Dalmeny was the winner of Best Contract Home in its price category, Best Use of Timber and Certificate of Excellence in Carpentry, beating out competitors from throughout the entire south east of NSW, covering Wollongong and Illawarra, Southern Highlands and South Coast to the Victorian border.
Hudson Building Services builder Rob Hudson said the awards were highly contested, so it was an exciting win.
“These categories have the most competition and we are very proud and happy to have received them,” he said.
The Dalmeny house was designed by Philip Leeson Architects, a Canberra based architect firm, along with the owner who is an interior designer.
A lot of emphasis was put into the detail and quality of inclusions right throughout the house. New and recycled timber was used extensively internally and externally and polished concrete to create a complementary industrial look.
The house is exposed to the environment in a coastal location, so building methods and materials were a high priority to ensure the house would withstand harsh conditions over time.
This attention to detail is reflective of the company’s overall philosophy, as Rob explained. “We only use local, reliable and professional subcontractors to ensure a top quality project. Our focus is on excellence and professionalism by using quality products and best practice building methods. We specialise in building for the coastal conditions we are susceptible to in the Eurobodalla shire, only using the materials that will last over time in our environment. I would like to thank our team and the many local businesses and tradesmen involved with this project who helped us achieve these awards.”
Hudson Building Services is a small local business with a team of seven; Rob Hudson, Mitch Jeffrey, Daniel Campbell, Ryan Bartulovich, Robert Rose, Harrison Bunney and Lindy Hudson.

The team has experience in all types of housing construction, from traditional homes to architect-designed contemporary homes.
The recent awards were not the first time Hudson Building Services has been recognised the business already had five accolades under its belt from the event in 2014, 2012 and 2011. However, it’s not just a quality product that makes Hudson Building Services stand out.
“Focusing on communication with the client is very important to us,” Rob said. “From the beginning right through, we maintain a good relationship with the client to ensure we achieve exactly what they are after.”
