One of India’s most acclaimed architects and urban planners Christopher Benninger’s book ‘Architecture for Modern India’ was launched to a wide reception at Balgandharv Rangmandir Auditorium. This follows Benninger’s previous book ‘Letters to a Young Architect’, which sustained itself on the bestseller list for 18 consecutive weeks in 2012.
Benninger, who has worked extensively in India, is a recipient of the Great Master Architect of India award. After nearly half a century of investing in the development of architecture in India, he released his second book.
‘Architecture for Modern India’ explores Benninger’s personal approach to urban design in India and the architectural sense developed in his decades-long experience of working and teaching here. Compared to his earlier work, it is less reflective and seeks to impart an objective basis for design that is reconciled with the challenges and advantages of urban architecture in India.
